Summary: The Actuarial Consultant role involves developing and maintaining actuarial models to support life insurance asset/liability projections, performing asset modeling, and advising on asset/liability management. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and compliance with regulatory frameworks. The consultant will also conduct sensitivity testing and scenario analysis to evaluate actuarial projections. This role is based in Chicago, IL or NYC, NY, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain actuarial models using platforms such as AXIS, Prophet, or MG-ALFA to support life insurance asset/liability projections.
- Perform asset modeling to evaluate and forecast investment performance and its impact on insurance liabilities leveraging actuarial vendor modeling capabilities.
- Advise on matters related to asset/liability management (ALM), including portfolio optimization techniques, management of duration mismatch, use of non-traditional assets, associated reinvestment/disinvestment strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate actuarial insights into financial planning and risk management strategies.
- Support the implementation and analysis of regulatory frameworks, including VM-22, for statutory and GAAP reporting.
- Conduct sensitivity testing and scenario analysis to assess the robustness of actuarial projections under various economic conditions.
Key Skills:
- Strong proficiency in actuarial modeling software: AXIS, Prophet, or MG-ALFA, with a focus on asset modeling.
- Solid understanding of asset/liability management principles and life insurance cash flow projections.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards, particularly VM-22.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- ASA or FSA designation (or progress toward) required.
