Summary: The role of Accountant at Venesky-Brown involves providing accountancy support within a public sector organization in Stirling. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accountancy support to a range of customers under the direction of the Finance Team Leader, Finance Lead, and Chief Finance Officer.
- Oversee the work of Accountancy Assistants.
- Prepare periodic financial monitoring statements for Service Management and Accounting Operations.
- Prepare Revenue and Capital Budgets.
- Support corporate and service-based projects related to financial matters.
- Review, maintain, and develop financial aspects of financial and information systems.
- Provide and maintain appropriate information and advice relevant to the post.
- Advise on specialist areas such as capital and VAT.
- Prepare grant claims, returns, and statistics.
- Prepare information for the Annual Accounts in accordance with the Accounting Code of Practice.
- Monitor and keep up to date with policy, legislative, and accounting developments.
- Assist in the management and administration of the finance team.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships using various communication methods.
- Deliver formal training and presentations.
Key Skills:

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Stirling, is currently looking to recruit x4 Accountants for initial 6-month contracts, with potential to extend a further 6 months, on a rate of £236.74/day (Inside IR35). These hybrid roles will be a mix of home and office working.
Responsibilities:
- To provide an accountancy support service to a range of customers under the direction of the Finance Team Leader, Finance Lead and Chief Finance Officer
- Responsibility for corporate financial and information systems.
- Supervisory responsibility in terms of overseeing the work of Accountancy Assistant support to the post
- To prepare periodic financial monitoring statements that meet the needs of both Service Management and the corporate role of the Accounting Operations function.
- To prepare Revenue and Capital Budgets.
- To support corporate and service-based projects in relation to financial matters associated with those projects.
- To review, maintain and develop financial aspects of financial and information systems
- To provide and maintain appropriate information and advice relevant to the nature of the post.
- To advise on specialist areas (e.g. capital, VAT)
- To prepare grant claims, returns and statistics.

The postholder will develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with various groups using written and verbal communication as appropriate. Methods of communication will include, but not be limited to, face-to-face meetings, e-mail, formal written reports, and telephone. The postholder will also deliver formal training and presentations.
Essential Skills:
- Hold a professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA, CA)
- Deep understanding of Oracle solutions and all-round knowledge of Oracle/ERP system on finance modules with view to providing technical and functional subject matter expertise
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Capital Accounting
- Experience of developing management and performance information.
- Knowledge of and development of computerised financial information systems (e.g. financial ledgers, income management systems, management reporting systems).
- Highly numerate and computer literate
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to staff at all levels
