Summary: The role of Accountant involves supporting the Principal Accountant in promoting financial best practices within a Local Authority. The position requires assistance with year-end processes following the implementation of a new finance system, including preparing financial accounts and budgets. The Accountant will also handle month-end reconciliations and manage insurance claims. This is a temporary 5-month contract requiring 1 to 2 days a week on-site in the East Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Principal Accountant or Principal Capital Accountant in promoting best financial practices across the authority.
  • Assist in preparing financial accounts for assigned directorates.
  • Assist in preparing budgets for assigned directorates.
  • Main duties will be month-end reconciliation, prepayments, accruals and managing the insurance claims.

Key Skills:

  • Part Qualified accountant.
  • Local Authority finance experience.
  • Experience in financial management and accounting practice.
  • Stakeholder management.

Salary (Rate): 250
