Summary: The Accountant role in Glasgow is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days in the office over a 6-month duration. The successful candidate will be integral to the Compensation Accounting team, focusing on accurate monthly accounting for compensation costs, management accounts production, and compliance with statutory requirements. This position demands strong attention to detail and the ability to drive process improvements while maintaining professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for monthly accounting for compensation costs, including complex arrangements.
- Assist with the production of accurate management accounts and relevant commentary.
- Perform monthly and year-to-date variance analysis on P&L.
- Drive changes and process improvements for efficiency and value-added reporting.
- Produce ad hoc reporting to support the business and establish key reporting outputs.
- Assist with external and internal audit requests.
- Build and manage relationships within the General Accounting team and other functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and Professional Standards Manual.
- Take responsibility for remedial action planning if shortcomings are identified.
Key Skills:
- Technical knowledge of US GAAP (preferable but not necessary).
- Professional services background.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Project management experience or experience implementing new processes/controls.
- Ability to manage priorities and adhere to challenging deadlines.
- Adaptability to change and attention to detail.
