Summary: The role of Accountant at a global Japanese trading company in London involves delivering efficient accounting services, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations. The ideal candidate should be ACA or ACCA qualified, possess strong communication skills, and be able to meet tight deadlines. This position is a fixed-term contract for six months with a hybrid working arrangement. The company does not provide visa support for applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the timely and accurate delivery of financial reports in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations including bank, fixed asset, inventory, intercompany, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage accruals and prepayments.
- Maintain and monitor the general ledger in line with internal policies and J-Sox requirements.
- Understand journal requests, preparing and processing with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
- Collaborate with the Transaction Processing team to problem-solve and ensure effective inter-departmental collaboration.
- Support FX position reporting to the Treasury team.
- Manage intercompany reports and reconcile variances/mismatches between intercompany accounts.
- Conduct analytical reviews of monthly financial reports and provide detailed narratives for variances.
- Ensure timely delivery of supporting information for internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with and support business departments and regional corporate departments as required.
Key Skills:
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
- ACA or ACCA qualified accountant or equivalent or finalist.
- Experience in an accounting practice environment with exposure to multiple reporting environments.
- Experience with SAP is highly advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
