Summary: The role of Accountant involves supporting the Department for Children, Adults, and Health, as well as Resource and Business Change within a local authority in Bristol. The successful candidate will manage a small team and collaborate with Finance Business Partners to ensure effective financial management and compliance with regulations. This temporary position requires expertise in budget preparation, financial advice, and statutory reporting. The role is ideal for an ambitious individual with a CCAB qualification and experience in local government finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Finance Business Partners in preparing revenue and capital budgets and budget monitoring activities.
- Provide expert financial advice to budget holders and key stakeholders, supporting funding bids and preparing formal reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, legislation, and internal policies.
- Lead the production of statutory government returns and interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
- Manage and supervise a small team of Finance Officers and Assistants to deliver high-quality financial services.
Key Skills:
- Recognised CCAB qualification (preferably CIPFA).
- Proven experience in data analysis and presenting complex financial information.
- Strong understanding of the local government finance system and upcoming changes.
- Ability to supervise a small finance team and foster a collaborative environment.
- Experience with Dynamics D365 & CIVICA Financials is ideal.
- Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
