Accessibility Adviser

The purpose of the role is to ensure the organisation meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010, particularly through providing appropriate reasonable adjustments for customers who need them.

You will work closely with casework colleagues and leaders across the organisation, providing specialist advice and practical support around accessibility, vulnerability and reasonable adjustments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make reasonable adjustments and support the day-to-day output of the Accessibility team within agreed SLAs
  • Advise colleagues across the service on ways to work effectively with vulnerable and/or disabled people who require reasonable adjustments or additional support
  • Apply a strong working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and its practical implications for customers using the service
  • Provide advice through the accessibility helpline and other channels, supporting colleagues with issues relating to vulnerability, wellbeing and safeguarding
  • Escalate concerns appropriately to relevant internal stakeholders and the Accessibility Manager
  • Work closely with the Accessibility Manager on activities that support pods and casework colleagues, ensuring the service remains accessible to all
  • Identify knowledge and capability gaps relating to disability and vulnerability across the organisation
  • Support the development and delivery of tailored training to improve accessibility and customer outcomes

About You

  • A working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and how it applies to consumers in practice
  • Experience of working with vulnerability, disability and/or accessibility requirements
  • A proven track record of delivering excellent customer service within an SLA-led environment
