Summary: The role of Specialist Mentor at Randstad involves providing tailored support to students with disabilities or mental health conditions in Birmingham's universities and colleges. This hybrid position requires flexibility in delivering both in-person and online sessions throughout the academic year. Mentors will assist students in developing strategies for organization, time management, and emotional well-being, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Successful candidates must hold membership with recognized professional bodies relevant to the support of these students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with disabilities or mental health conditions on a 1-2-1 basis.
  • Create strategies for organization and time management.
  • Help students break down tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Support students in achieving a balance between study and daily living.
  • Manage anxiety, stress, or low mood in students.
  • Prepare students for new experiences and build their confidence.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Address individual student needs and concerns in a timely manner.

Key Skills:

  • Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP, BPS, HCPC).
  • Experience working with clients with disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to help students build on their learning strengths.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of students.
