Summary: The Academic Manager at ALPADIA is responsible for overseeing the delivery of English programs at summer camps, ensuring high educational standards and effective management of teaching staff. This role involves leading a team of EFL teachers, maintaining student engagement, and ensuring compliance with academic guidelines. The position offers opportunities for professional development and requires a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for international students. The role is fixed-term for the summer season in 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the overall academic department of the camps, ensuring proper staffing and adherence to student/teacher ratios.
- Deploy teachers based on their skills and student needs, and maintain up-to-date academic records.
- Prepare end-of-course certificates and ensure timely lesson delivery.
- Monitor student attendance and address issues of absence or lateness.
- Lead daily Teacher’s Meetings and attend weekly inter-camp academic meetings.
- Ensure adherence to the ALPADIA curriculum and provide support to teachers.
- Safeguard student wellbeing and promote a positive learning environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any issues raised by stakeholders.
- Conduct teacher observations and provide feedback for professional development.
- Ensure all staff are properly inducted and knowledgeable about ALPADIA policies.
Key Skills:
- Level 6 Qualification (e.g., TEFLQ Status, DELTA, MA/MSc in ELT/TESOL).
- 3 years of EFL teaching experience with knowledge of teaching 10 to 17-year-olds.
- Exceptional customer service and proven leadership skills.
- Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- High level of IT competency, particularly in Outlook and MS Office.
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies.
- Experience in administration work, preferably in an ELT environment.
- Ability to adapt and demonstrate flexibility in various situations.
- Experience in teacher development and conducting observations.
