Summary: The role of 2nd Line Support Engineer involves providing technical support in a financial services company, focusing on high-quality customer service. The position requires expertise in various Microsoft technologies and desktop hardware, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting and configuration. The engineer will work closely with another individual to manage the local office's IT needs. This role is based on-site for five days a week and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd line technical support for desktop and office hardware.
- Manage Microsoft Windows operating systems, including build and configuration.
- Utilize SCCM for OS and application deployment, fault finding, and reporting.
- Support Microsoft Office suite configurations and advanced features.
- Administer Office 365, Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Perform basic Active Directory administration and Group Policy management.
- Handle messaging and collaboration tools, including email client configuration.
- Understand and manage email security products and virtualisation technologies.
- Support network technologies including LAN/WAN/vLAN, DHCP, and VPN connectivity.
- Manage office telephony services, including VOIP and mobile device configuration.
Key Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and desktop hardware architecture.
- Proficiency in SCCM for deployment and monitoring.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Office 365 applications.
- Basic administration skills in Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Understanding of messaging tools and email security products.
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies like VMWare.
- Networking knowledge including LAN/WAN/vLAN and remote connectivity.
- Experience with office telephony and VOIP systems.
- Strong customer service skills.
