Summary: The role of 2nd Line IT Support Engineer involves providing technical support within a Local Government organization in South-West London. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills and experience in public sector IT environments. The engineer will be responsible for managing hardware and software issues while ensuring adherence to ITIL and IT Service Management standards. This is an office-based role with an initial contract duration of 2 months starting on 17th March 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd line IT support, troubleshooting both hardware and software issues.
- Support and maintain Windows 10, Windows Server OS, Azure, Intune, and Microsoft 365.
- Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory, VPNs, and remote support tools.
- Provide technical assistance with mobile devices (iOS & Android), laptops, and desktops.
- Install and upgrade software as required.
- Work with virtualisation technologies such as vSphere and Azure Virtual Desktops.
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and escalate issues where necessary.
- Ensure best practices are followed, including ITIL and IT Service Management (ITSM) standards.
Key Skills:
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in 2nd line IT support.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and mobile devices.
- Knowledge of Azure, Intune, and MDM solutions.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Ivanti.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues independently.
- Previous experience in a public sector or enterprise IT environment is desirable.
