Summary: The role of 2nd Line Desktop Support Technician involves providing technical support and managing IT equipment for a well-established organization in Derby on a 12-month contract. The technician will be responsible for provisioning, deploying, and maintaining desktop hardware and software, while also supporting the Service Desk with escalated tickets. The position requires a methodical approach to logistics and stock management, alongside technical expertise. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning, ordering, building and shipping IT equipment to users across the business
  • Deploying and configuring desktop hardware, software, network printers, and mobile devices
  • Managing user accounts, group memberships, email and application access
  • Providing desk-side and remote support across multiple sites
  • Backing up the Service Desk team with phone support during busy periods
  • Keeping documentation and SOPs up to date

Key Skills:

  • Windows 11 (plus some Apple Mac exposure)
  • Active Directory — user and group management, file services, printing
  • Autopilot / Intune
  • Dell client hardware
  • McAfee endpoint protection and ePO
  • Citrix XenApp / Receiver
  • Checkpoint VPN and SSL connectivity
  • A full UK driving licence (some travel between sites is required)

2nd Line Desktop Support Technician – 12 Month Contract | Derby (3 days on-site) | £225/day Outside IR35 | Immediate Start

I'm working with a well-established organisation in Derby that needs a capable 2nd Line Desktop Technician to join their IT team on a 12-month contract, starting as soon as you can. As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be provisioning, ordering, building and shipping equipment out to users across the business, so you'll need to be organised, methodical, and comfortable managing stock and logistics alongside the technical side. You'll also be the person keeping desktops, laptops, mobiles, and printers running smoothly for users both on-site and remote, whilst supporting the Service Desk on escalation tickets.
