Key Responsibilities:

  • Support new products and tackle unsolved problems.
  • Bridge the gap between development and support with a balanced focus on both areas.
  • Execute smoke and daily checks test scripts, reporting failures accurately.
  • Understand the domain to reason out failures and debug effectively.
  • Utilize Shell Scripting/Node JS for automated smoke tests.
  • Perform back-end testing and investigation using Unix and Linux commands.
  • Assist in defect and incident resolution in a support role.
  • Demonstrate microservice development and testing approaches.
  • Debug code and conduct root cause analysis with a good understanding of Java OOP.
  • Use SQL and Postgres commands effectively.
  • Utilize Jenkins for building pipelines and working with RESTful APIs.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on development experience.
  • Experience with distributed back-end systems and API design.
  • Substantial experience in a technical support or implementation role in software support.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, monitoring, and logging tools.
  • SC clearance or eligibility for SC clearance.

2nd Line BAU Engineer - Java/Smoke Test/Shell/SQL/Restful API

I am recruiting an experienced Engineer for one of our Government clients apart of our Cloud Services.

Shift Patterns on a rota bases

Monday-Saturday

Shift - 8am-4pm/12-8pm

The evening shift will be once or twice a week.

The role

Your day to day responsibilities will include supporting new products, tackling problems that have never been solved before. You will be bridging the gap between development and support so you will have a good split between the hands-on development and support. Y ou will be confident and have q uality engineering experience.

Experience needed

  • Able to execute smoke and daily checks test scripts and report on the failure accurately

  • Able to understand the domain and reason out on the failures and be able to report and debug accurately.

  • Good experience in Shell Scripting/Node JS. The automated smoke tests are written in Shell Scripts/Node js

  • Unix and Linux commands exp - Back End testing and investigation

  • Hands-on experience in a support role helping with defect and incident resolution.

  • Good understanding and should be able to demonstrate microservice development and testing approaches

  • Good Java oops understanding as would need to debug code and root cause analysis

  • Good experience with using SQL and Postgres commands

  • Knowledge of using Jenkins and building pipeline.

  • Resultful API's

Java would be a benefit

Skills required:

  • You will have substantial experience in a technical support or implementation role working ideally in a software support business.
  • You will have experience with troubleshooting, monitoring and logging tools

You must be SC cleared or eligible for SC clearance.

This role will require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance. As part of the onboarding process candidates will be asked to complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard; details of the evidence required to apply may be found on the government website Gov.UK. If you are unable to meet this and any associated criteria, then your employment may be delayed, or rejected. Details of this will be discussed with you at interview.

This role is hybrid - once in the office ( Central London ) a week and then remote.
