Summary: The Utilities Engineer will provide both reactive and planned maintenance support within a production facility, reporting to the Team Leader. This role involves collaboration with various trades to ensure the efficient and safe operation of utility systems. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, compliance monitoring, and emergency response. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and teamwork to maintain uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Escalate operational or maintenance issues to the Team Leader as required.
- Assist other skilled trades with maintenance, testing, inspections, repairs, and installations.
- Maintain utility service levels to support uninterrupted production.
- Serve as first responder for site utility systems, including: Steam and condensate networks, High and low-pressure compressed air, Water treatment and distribution, Effluent management systems, Chemical dosing and delivery, Cooling systems and water hygiene management, Building Management Systems (BMS), Air handling and fixed cooling equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements for all assets.
- Conduct regular site monitoring to support environmental and operational compliance.
- Participate in emergency response, including extended cover, call-outs, and remote monitoring.
- Apply analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve faults.
- Work in line with established safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
- Assist with machine setups and align operations with production requirements.
- Maintain a proactive, problem-solving mindset and promote teamwork.
Key Skills:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship in Engineering.
- BOAS Industrial Boiler Operator certification (Category 2) or equivalent preferred.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with digital maintenance planning and tracking tools.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Excellent time management and flexibility to meet operational demands.
