Summary: The Temporary Works Coordinator will join the design and engineering team, overseeing all aspects of Temporary Works for a major project at a high-security military naval base. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil or construction projects, preferably in the nuclear sector, and must hold specific security clearances. Key Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate Temporary Works between site teams and designers.
- Review Temporary Works design briefs for suitability.
- Manage Temporary Works through design preparation and checking processes.
- Oversee Temporary Works design submissions from approval to dismantling.
- Liaise with in-house, supply chain, and external design consultants.
- Ensure implementation of Temporary Works on site according to approved designs.
- Conduct site inspections and issue Temporary Works Permits.
- Commit to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies.
- Manage and coordinate Temporary Works Supervisors.
- Provide support and mentoring to less experienced team members.
Key Skills:
- Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator.
- Experience in heavy civils/construction projects, preferably in the nuclear sector.
- Strong knowledge of Temporary Works Management procedures.
- Experience in delivering major infrastructure projects.
- Awareness of commercial processes.

Temporary Works Coordinator
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator who will be joining the design / engineering team, you will be responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of Temporary Works on one of the major projects ongoing in the dockyard. Due to the site being a high Security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made – BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and have been a UK residence for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
As an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a TWC on heavy civils / construction projects, preferably with experience in the nuclear sector. Reporting to the Lead TWC / Temporary Works Manager
- Co-ordination of Temporary Works between our site teams and designers
- Review of TW design briefs prepared by our site teams to ensure they are suitable for issue to the project’s Temporary Works Design teams and management of that submission process
- Management of Temporary Works through the full design preparation and design checking processes in accordance with applicable procedures and client requirements
- Manage Temporary Works design submissions through their full life-cycle to client approval, implementation, use and dismantling
- Liaise with different in-house, supply chain and external design consultants simultaneously
- Ensure the implementation of these Temporary Works on site is in accordance with the approved and checked design details
- Site inspections and issuing of TW Permits
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to the project’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and management system requirements and expectations
- Develop and maintain an awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrate a commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks
- Understand and effectively undertake SHE accountabilities
- Manage and coordinate Temporary Works Supervisors
- Comply with commercial processes
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Joint Venture policies and processes
- Provide practical support and mentoring to less experienced members of the temporary works team.
Skills Required
Degree qualification in civil engineering equivalent is desirable – one or more of: - BSc, BA, BEng, MEng, Eng Tech, MICE, TIStructE, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship
We will consider personnel working towards Chartership / Incorporation with IStructE, ICE or other appropriate professional body
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a TWC on heavy civils / construction projects, preferably with experience in the nuclear sector.
Experience of overseeing a broad range of reinforced concrete, formwork and falsework Temporary Works schemes as a TWC or in part as a TWS
Ideally experience in design and / or engineering management
Strong working knowledge of Temporary Works Management procedures
Experience in the delivery of major infrastructure projects
Awareness of commercial processes
A knowledge or experience of structural steel building buildings would be useful
