Summary: Technical animators are responsible for supporting the technology used to play animations in games, collaborating with the Engineering team and other departments to build animation systems. This role involves using Unreal Engine to enhance animation standards for various stylised characters and includes ongoing research into new animation technologies. It is ideal for a problem solver with a creative technical mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with design and engineers to understand and implement gameplay animation features.
- Support engineers and game teams to fix game issues, troubleshooting animation graphs and artwork.
- Be aware of performance issues and be responsible for performance improvements.
- Participate in R&D into emerging animation technologies.
- Advise and create tools to improve workflows and asset quality.
Key Skills:
- Several years of experience working as technical animation in the videogame industry.
- Unreal Engine experience.
- Experience in Animation blueprints (Locomotion).
- Demonstrable experience in the development of locomotion and character control systems.
- Proved ability to work on engine animation blueprints including overlaying, IK, control rigs or similar technologies.
- To have completed at least one full game development cycle.
- Demonstrated good collaboration skills.
- Demonstrable ability in the use of revision control software.
