Summary: The role of System Safety Engineer involves ensuring safety excellence in high-voltage systems for BEV and PHEV platforms at a leading OEM in Warwick. The position requires a seasoned professional to analyze safety requirements, develop documentation, and conduct audits while participating in accident investigations. Key Responsibilities:
- Review product systems, support equipment, and operational specifications to establish robust safety requirements.
- Independently analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design and procedures to mitigate hazards.
- Develop and maintain safety documentation to support customer and operational requirements.
- Conduct audits and evaluate the effectiveness of system safety programs.
- Participate in accident investigations and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure cost-effective integration of safety requirements into concept design and development.
Key Skills:
- Expertise in HV systems and ISO 26262 (all parts).
- In-depth knowledge of BEV & PHEV HV system architecture.
- Experience with Design Validation (DV) and Production Validation (PV).
- Proven track record across the full safety lifecycle - from hazard analysis to safety validation.
- Strong leadership in cross-functional safety analysis activities.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Hands-on experience with safety verification and fault injection testing.
- Familiarity with ASIL assessments, FMEA, and diagnostic analysis.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Additional certification in Functional Safety.
- 7-10 years of experience in Functional Safety for HV systems.
- Deep understanding of High Voltage Architectures (batteries, inverters, power distribution, chargers, DCDC).
