Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer.THE ROLEThe postholder will report to the Head of Procurement and work closely with colleagues in Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility team. The purpose of the role is to work with the procurement team and sustainability team colleagues to develop an effective sustainable procurement programme that can also meet our new net-zero objectives. You will have responsibility to develop our Social Value policy and more accurate measurements of our supply chain Scope 3 (green-house gas (GHG)) emissions, embed GHG emission reduction throughout our purchasing, and increase the effectiveness of existing sustainable procurement practices.ABOUT YOU -A degree in sustainability / environmental management, or related subject or experience in delivering sustainable initiativesExcellent knowledge of the purchasing/procurement life cycle and the supply chain from a sustainability point of view. Knowledge of sustainability issues, social values (including social, environmental, and economic impacts) and Scope 3 emissionsExperience on how to maximise sustainability benefits through sustainable procurement, with a strong understanding and vision of how we can work towards net-zero in our supply chain, and examples of social value criteria in awarding of contractsProven success in project management and delivery, tracking and monitoring performance and managing data and systemsAn understanding of risk management in the context of the supply chainStrong written communication and presentation skills, particularly report writing and presentation drafting for a variety of audiences Ulster University holds a Silver Athena SWAN Award in recognition of our commitment to advancing Gender equality.
