Summary: The Software Engineer - Java role is based in Cheadle and requires the candidate to work on-site five days a week. The position focuses on developing high-performance applications using Java and related technologies, with an emphasis on strong coding practices and team collaboration. SC Clearance is required to start, and the role is outside IR35 for an initial duration of six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop high-performance applications using Java, JavaFX, Swing UI, and Spring frameworks.
- Utilize Gradle and/or Maven for build dependency management.
- Conduct unit testing, preferably with Junit.
- Implement static and performance analysis using tools like SonarQube.
- Collaborate with team members and assist less experienced colleagues.
- Document software architecture and design effectively.
- Manage software configuration control using Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git.
Key Skills:
- Extensive Java language skills.
- Knowledge of Human Computer Interface development.
- Experience with Linux-based operating systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of coding methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with UML and requirements management tools.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins.
