Summary: The Technical Lead - Sitecore role is a hands-on position focused on establishing and growing a new Sitecore development capability within a DevOps POD. The individual will provide technical leadership, build team culture, and deliver high-quality Sitecore solutions while collaborating with a cross-functional team. This role requires engagement with business stakeholders and the ability to drive Agile practices effectively. The position is based in Sheffield or London, UK, and involves leading a geographically distributed team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership across a cross-functional Sitecore development team, including engineers based in India, Poland, and China.
  • Actively contribute to and review pull requests; maintain code quality and architectural standards.
  • Unblock engineers and provide clear, pragmatic technical direction day-to-day.
  • Drive Agile ceremonies - sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives - and embed engineering best practices.
  • Engage directly with business stakeholders to translate requirements into sound technical solutions.
  • Define and evolve the team's development standards.
  • Support hiring and onboarding of backend and frontend developers as the team scales.

Key Skills:

  • Strong hands-on Sitecore experience (XM/XP/XM Cloud).
  • Proficiency with Sitecore's architecture, content modelling, and multisite configurations.
  • Experience with Sitecore headless delivery (JSS, Experience Edge) desirable.
  • C# / .NET development (ASP.NET Core).
  • RESTful API design and integration patterns.
  • Sitecore Helix architecture principles.
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud hosting environments is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Next.js preferred).
  • Ability to review frontend code critically and guide frontend engineers effectively.
  • Git-based workflows, branching strategies, and agile culture.
  • Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, and automation testing approaches.
  • Ability to instil QA discipline within a development team.
  • Proven experience leading a high-performing development team in a hands-on capacity.
  • Strong communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Structured, pragmatic approach to Agile delivery.
  • Sitecore certification(s) (nice to have).
  • Experience building or rebuilding a team/capability from scratch (nice to have).

Role Overview
