Summary: The Head of Tax for North West Europe will lead the tax function for a major international organization, focusing on compliance, reporting, and planning across multiple jurisdictions. This role involves managing a small team and external advisors while advising senior stakeholders on tax implications and driving optimization opportunities. The position is hybrid, requiring three days on-site per week, and offers a competitive daily rate. The initial contract duration is between 3 to 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the regional tax function, managing a small team and external advisors.
  • Oversee all corporate, VAT, and employment tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Manage corporate tax accounting, reporting, and forecasting for group and statutory financial statements.
  • Maintain and update the regional tax strategy and risk register.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on the tax implications of business initiatives, investments, and restructures.
  • Monitor legislative changes and provide proactive, practical guidance to the business.
  • Drive tax optimisation opportunities while maintaining compliance and integrity.

Key Skills:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or ACMA); CTA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years’ post-qualification UK tax experience, ideally within a multinational or complex group environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK corporate, VAT, and employment taxes, including deferred tax and capital allowances.
  • Experienced in tax reporting under IFRS and FRS102.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Practical, proactive approach with strong attention to detail and the confidence to engage at all levels.

Salary (Rate): £850 daily
