Summary: The Senior Planning Officer role is a 3-month ongoing contract based in Northamptonshire, focusing on the Planning Policy function within a Council. The position involves leading projects, supporting policy development, and implementing policies in practice. The successful candidate will manage key evidence and engage with various stakeholders to ensure effective planning policy execution. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with three days from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects and workstreams, managing key evidence to support policy development.
  • Support the Council’s planning policy function by researching, drafting, consulting on, and progressing policies and guidance through to examination.
  • Help implement policies in practice, including preparing appeal statements, attending hearings, and responding to planning enquiries from applicants, agents, and internal teams.

Key Skills:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification to allow access to Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).
  • Licentiate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent).

Salary (Rate): £45.00 hourly

About the job Senior Planning Officer 3-month ongoing contract £45.00 p/a Umbrella or £32.69 PAYE Hybrid – 3 days from home We are supporting an East Midlands based Council with an interim Senior Planning Officer opportunity. The role is to work across the Planning Policy function area. The successful postholder will fulfil allocated tasks and duties to meet the operational demands of the Planning Policy Service.

The Opportunity Lead projects and workstreams, managing key evidence to support policy development. Support the Council’s planning policy function by researching, drafting, consulting on, and progressing policies and guidance through to examination.
