Summary: The Senior Mental Health Practitioner role within the East Sussex CAMHS Duty & Liaison Team involves providing high-quality mental health assessments and interventions for young people in crisis. This position is based at the St Anne’s Centre, Conquest Hospital, Hastings, and is a fixed-term opportunity until 31 March 2026. The practitioner will work collaboratively with various agencies to ensure safe, person-centred care while embodying the values of compassion, accountability, and optimism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to duty referrals and prioritising cases based on clinical urgency
- Conducting comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning
- Supporting young people awaiting CAMHS allocation or therapeutic input
- Providing advice, consultation and liaison to colleagues in A&E and acute wards
- Working collaboratively with families, schools and other professionals to support recovery
- Contributing to service development and mentoring junior staff
Key Skills:
- Experience from CAMHS, liaison, crisis, or similar acute mental health services
- Professional registration with the NMC, HCPC or Social Work England
- Strong clinical, communication and risk management skills
- Ability to work across agencies and collaborate with hospital and community teams

We’re looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our East Sussex CAMHS Duty & Liaison Team , based at the St Anne’s Centre, Conquest Hospital, Hastings. This is a five-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity until 31 March 2026. You’ll work as part of a dynamic and supportive team, responding to referrals from a range of sources and providing high-quality mental health assessments and interventions for young people in crisis. You’ll share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism , and bring strong clinical, communication and risk management skills. You’ll also be comfortable working across agencies and collaborating with hospital and community teams to ensure safe, person-centred care.

About the role
