Summary: The Senior Civil and Structural Engineer role involves supporting major infrastructure projects by assisting the Discipline Lead in delivering structural engineering work packages. The position requires technical management and oversight of complex design development throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with scope, quality, schedule, and cost requirements. Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance due to the security nature of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Discipline Lead in delivering structural engineering packages.
- Prepare, check, and manage designs, analyses, reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Participate in problem-solving and the development of technical solutions.
- Lead the development of design work packages and supervise junior staff.
- Provide technical guidance on design coordination and project planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
- Interface with project managers, safety engineers, and other stakeholders.
Key Skills:
- Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably chartered or working towards chartership).
- Proven experience in civil and structural engineering, ideally in a regulated industry (e.g., nuclear or defence).
- Knowledge of seismic design, dock structures, and heavy civil engineering.
- Familiarity with building services and architectural design of industrial buildings.
- Strong understanding of design safety practices and quality management.
- Proficiency in engineering project planning and resource management.
