Summary: The role of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) involves leading and developing inclusive education for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) at a secondary school in Trafford. The position requires a qualified teacher with a passion for improving educational outcomes and the ability to coordinate with various stakeholders. The SENCo will also manage a team of support staff and contribute to the school's overall development. This is a long-term role starting ASAP with a focus on staff well-being and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make significant contributions to whole school planning and development.
- Ensure pupils with SEND receive a first-class education and are prepared for their next steps.
- Develop and coordinate links within the school, local authority, and external agencies.
- Lead a team of Learning Support Assistants (LSA), Teaching Assistants (TA), and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTA).
- Play a key role in the development of inclusion across the school.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential.
- SENCo qualification desirable or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience in teaching and supporting students with SEND.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
