Summary: The role of SENCO involves leading the Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision at a large co-educational secondary school in Merton. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate SEN provision across the school.
• Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement effective strategies for children with diverse learning needs.
• Develop and manage Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Liaise with parents, carers, external agencies, and local authorities.
• Lead and support a team of teaching assistants and SEN staff, providing training and guidance.
• Ensure compliance with SEND regulations, policies, and best practices.
• Monitor and assess pupils' progress, adapting support strategies as needed.

Key Skills:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEN teaching.
• A National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it).
• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, including the SEND Code of Practice.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
