Summary: The role of SEND Teacher involves delivering high-quality education to secondary-aged students with severe learning needs, including PMLD, SLD, and severe Autism, at a school in Blackley, Manchester. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students with complex needs.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that supports emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies and promote positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies, to provide holistic support to students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Key Skills:

  • Relevant teaching qualification with QTS (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed, BA Hons Primary, Secondary or SEND).
  • Experience working in an SEND setting or supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience working with pupils with complex needs.
  • Confident and proven classroom practitioner.
  • Successful experience managing pupils' needs.
