Summary: The role of SAP S/4HANA Architect involves leading the architectural direction of a greenfield SAP S/4HANA transformation programme for a major enterprise organization. This high-impact position requires extensive experience in SAP S/4HANA architecture and the ability to manage complex implementations while ensuring alignment with business objectives. The architect will work closely with various stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions and oversee integration with third-party systems. The position is hybrid, requiring three days on-site in Manchester and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the end-to-end SAP S/4HANA solution architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical best practices
- Lead architectural decision-making across core S/4HANA modules, integration layers, and BTP components
- Design and oversee SAP BTP integration and extension architecture, including connectivity to third-party and Legacy systems
- Manage and govern the System Integrator (SI), ensuring deliverables meet agreed architectural standards and quality benchmarks
- Work closely with functional leads, technical teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, future-proof solutions
- Provide oversight across data migration, interfaces, and technical design workstreams
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks throughout the programme lifecycle
- Champion best practice across the delivery team, including coding standards, integration patterns, and platform governance
- Demonstrable experience as an SAP S/4HANA Architect on large-scale, complex transformation programmes
- Deep knowledge of S/4HANA architecture including Finance (FI/CO), Logistics, and core platform components
- Hands-on experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) integration suite, extension suite, and platform services
- Proven ability to manage and challenge System Integrators, holding them to account on quality and delivery
- Experience in complex, multi-system enterprise environments able to navigate technical debt, Legacy landscape, and competing priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills equally comfortable with technical teams and C-suite
- Prior experience on greenfield or re-implementation programmes preferred
- SAP certifications advantageous but not essential

A major enterprise organisation is embarking on a greenfield SAP S/4HANA transformation programme and is looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Architect to join at programme inception. This is a high-impact, senior role working at the heart of a complex, multi-workstream implementation you'll be shaping the architectural direction of the programme from day one.
3 days per week onsite in Manchester, 2 days remote. Outside IR35.
