On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Systems Migration Lead (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based REMOTELY.

Note: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position, (and speed at which we require a postholder in situ), preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance

The Government Commercial and Grants Services (GCGS) team works across two key Government Functions, the Commercial Function and the Grants Management Function. We deliver best in class digital, data and analytical solutions to drive meaningful services with cutting edge technology and data driven insights, enabling greater efficiencies and more integrated ways of working.

The Systems Migration Lead plays a critical role in coordinating the transition of data, emails, tools, and applications from Google to Microsoft platforms. You will ensure minimal disruption, maintain high levels of user adoption across government departments, and oversea the delivery of the migration plan from planning through to implementation and support.

This position requires a professional with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, deep technical understanding of Google and Microsoft 365 environments, a background in technical and project management, the ability to translate technical detail into actionable plans, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities include:

Leading the coordination of data and application migration from Google to Microsoft:
. Engage with all central teams within the Business Unit to plan, validate and discuss migration strategies, best practices, and share pertinent information from the central Cabinet Office migration team.
. Oversee the migration process across the Business Unit, to ensure full adherence to governmental standards and practices, with an emphasis on data governance and information management.
. Continuously assess the migration efforts and underlying central team workstreams to minimise disruptions and optimise transition processes.
. Provide regular status reporting to senior leadership and other stakeholders across the Business Unit and engage with central teams to monitor progress and escalate risks and issues as they arise.

Driving the rollout and adoption of Microsoft tools across GGMF and GCF:
. Oversee and assist the management of complex datasets during the migration to Microsoft services.
. Lead efforts and support the migration of all Google tools, applications, and software over to Microsoft 365.
. Actively participate in forums, drop-ins and other meetings across the Business Unit to share insights and drive the migration to successful completion.
. Collaborate and work with stakeholders to gather requirements for new technologically driven processes that foster continuous improvement.
. Coordinate and assist with the data migration to establish innovative solutions that leverage Microsoft functionalities (not just lift and shift data and processes).
. Work closely with the GCG Services digital team to incorporate digital tools for automation and enhanced productivity.

Providing advanced technical advice and support to stakeholders:
. Lead ad-hoc projects that align with strategic priorities related to the Google/Microsoft migration.
. Ensure robust, timely, and effectively communicated technical advice and support to all stakeholders.
. Communicate with stakeholders to thoroughly understand their needs and deliver practical solutions within the set timelines.
. Ability to translate technical processes into clear actions for delivery and communication.

Essential Criteria:

. Data and Technical Migration Oversight. You can oversee complex data and tool migrations from Google to Microsoft 365, ensuring integrity, compliance, and usability. You can coordinate across systems including Google Drive to SharePoint/OneDrive, and Google Meet to Microsoft Teams.
. Business Analysis and Requirements Definition. You support structured analysis to identify, investigate and communicate business and user needs. You work across teams to gather and validate requirements, ensuring migration solutions align with strategic outcomes.
. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills. You can analyse operational challenges, user data, and systems to recommend solutions.
. Project management skills. You know how to apply your knowledge and experience of project management methodologies, including tools and techniques, to support planning, testing, and implementation.
