Summary: This role as a Programmer Analyst (Specialization) focuses on serving as an ELR Specialist for the SSI Program, supporting various informatics projects including ELR and REDCap. The position involves working with interoperability standards and system integration, providing a unique opportunity to engage in a range of informatics initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for onboarding, monitoring, and troubleshooting ELR processes while collaborating with developers. Strong communication and project management skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete ELR onboarding using HL7 2.5.1 standards
- Provide input on and manage various production monitoring tasks including alerts, dashboard development and maintenance, and issue identification.
- Complete investigation of ELR processing issues independently and identify proposed solutions.
- Work collaboratively with Rhapsody developers to enhance existing routes or define new routes for ELR processing.
- Assist with processing of laboratory data submitted via our alternate file format (i.e., flat file).
- Coordinate routine and ad hoc management of standard interoperability vocabulary within the disease surveillance system.
- Act as liaison to downstream users of ELR data within TDH and CEDEP.
- Support other ELR maintenance tasks (e.g parallel validation, LOINC code assignments, and production errors).
Key Skills:
- Work experience with ELR onboarding and/or maintenance at a state or local health department, 1-3 years.
- Work experience with Rhapsody or working to define specifications for Rhapsody developers, 1-3 years.
- Experience writing statistical and analytical programming code in SAS, SQL, or R.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
