YorEnergy is a retrofit one-stop shop helping homeowners, businesses and communities across Yorkshire make their homes and buildings warmer, greener, and more energy-efficient. We provide impartial advice, manage projects end-to-end, and connect residents with trusted, accredited suppliers.

We’re looking for a freelance marketing specialist with sector experience to develop a clear marketing strategy and stakeholder messaging that will guide YorEnergy’s activity over the next 12–18 months.

The Role

During this 4-month contract , you will:

  • Develop a comprehensive 12–18 month marketing strategy : Define seasonal campaigns, thematic messaging, and BAU content planning.
  • Identify key audiences: residents, local authorities, suppliers, and community groups.
  • Recommend channels and approaches for each audience to maximise engagement.
  • Create messaging for all stakeholders : Develop clear, compelling messaging tailored to each group and each different value proposition
  • Draft content for brochures, factsheets, web copy, and campaign communications aligned with the strategy.
  • Ensure messaging reflects YorEnergy’s value propositions: free home assessments, project management, accredited supplier marketplace, and community impact.
  • Provide sector insight and guidance : Advise on positioning YorEnergy within the retrofit and energy efficiency space.
  • Highlight motivators and barriers for different audiences and recommend engagement approaches.

This role is remote with occasional meetings in York/North Yorkshire if required.
