Computational Biologist / Computational Chemist (QSAR Specialist) – 6-Month Contract

We’re supporting a global life sciences organization that’s driving innovation in drug discovery through data analytics and AI. They are seeking an experienced Computational Biologist or Computational Chemist with strong expertise in QSAR (Quantitative Structure–Activity Relationship) modelling to join their discovery data team on an initial six-month contract. This role sits within a cross-functional, data-driven team responsible for applying computational and AI methods to accelerate small- and large-molecule drug discovery. You’ll work closely with scientists and data specialists across biology, chemistry, and analytics functions, contributing directly to decision-making in discovery projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply QSAR and related computational modelling techniques to support drug discovery initiatives.
  • Conduct ADMET prediction, structure–activity analysis, and optimization of small- and large-molecule candidates (proteins, RNAs, etc.).
  • Leverage high-performance computing (HPC) and CUDA to optimize computational workflows.
  • Collaborate with data analytics and AI specialists to integrate modelling outputs into broader R&D pipelines.
  • Contribute to de novo design and biomolecule optimization using modern computational tools.
  • Communicate findings effectively to scientific and technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong academic background (degree or higher) in computational biology, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience within drug discovery or life sciences R&D.
  • Hands-on experience in QSAR modelling (essential).
  • Experience with ADMET, molecular structure prediction, and de novo design approaches.
  • Proficiency in Python and R; exposure to CUDA and high-performance computing environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, global team environment.

Contract Details

  • Duration: 6 months (with strong potential for extension).
  • Location: Fully remote; open to onshore or offshore candidates globally.
  • Time zone: Alignment with the US or Europe is preferred but not essential.
  • Start date: ~January 2026 (onboarding in the new year).
  • Rates: Competitive; based on experience and capability.
