Summary: The role of Test Automation Engineer involves transitioning from manual to automated UI testing within a HealthTech company collaborating with the NHS. This short-term contract focuses on designing and implementing Playwright-based test coverage integrated into the CI/CD pipeline. The engineer will work closely with the manual QA team to ensure critical user journeys are effectively tested and maintainable. Key Responsibilities:
- Building out scalable UI automation using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript)
- Translating manual test cases into solid automated coverage
- Plugging tests into CI/CD (Azure DevOps)
- Working closely with QA and developers on test scenarios and defect triage
- Running handover sessions and supporting knowledge transfer
- Contributing to a culture of quality and automation best practices
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Playwright in real-world projects
- Solid grasp of UI test design and test automation strategy
- CI/CD integration experience (ideally Azure DevOps)
- Comfortable collaborating with manual testers and upskilling others
- Bonus points for broader testing exposure (API, performance, cross-browser)
