Summary: The role of ADABAS/Mainframe DBA involves managing and maintaining a large-scale ADABAS database environment within a mainframe platform support team. The position requires expertise in SoftwareAG's ADABAS database and related technologies, focusing on performance management, system integration, and troubleshooting. The DBA will also be responsible for executing backup and recovery procedures, as well as maintaining technical documentation. This position is primarily remote, with a preference for candidates in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain 60+ ADABAS databases in a large-scale (over 9TB) mainframe environment.
- Support integration with ADABAS Security, ADABAS interface routines, Natural programming language, Natural Security, Entire NetWork, AOS, Review, and SQL Gateway.
- Monitor, tune, and optimize ADABAS, Natural, Entire NetWork, and SQL Gateway performance.
- Execute database backup, restore, and recovery procedures.
- Perform upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance across the installed Software AG products.
- Diagnose and resolve Software AG product or customer usage issues and performance problems.
- Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience with SoftwareAG ADABAS database administration.
- Proficiency with Natural programming language, Natural One, and Natural Security administration.
- Knowledge of IBM z/OS operating system and client software such as TPX, TSO and batch JCL.
- Experience installing and supporting ADABAS Security, Entire NetWork, SQL Gateway, AOS, Review, CICS Interface.
- On-call support required.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Database Administrator to join our mainframe platform support team. This role requires expertise in SoftwareAG's ADABAS database platform along with related mainframe technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Administration: Manage and maintain 60+ ADABAS databases in a large-scale (over 9TB) mainframe environment.
System Integration: Support integration with ADABAS Security, ADABAS interface routines, Natural programming language, Natural Security, Entire NetWork, AOS, Review, and SQL Gateway.
Performance Management: Monitor, tune, and optimize ADABAS, Natural, Entire NetWork, and SQL Gateway performance.
Backup & Recovery: Execute database backup, restore, and recovery procedures.

- ServiceNow or similar ITSM / change and incident management tools
CA Broadcom mainframe tool suite, including Vantage, View, TPX, JCL Check, Sysview, and NetMaster
CICS and related client software, including Intercom
SQL and PL/I, and programming language (reading and basic maintenance)
Assembler language (exposure or diagnostic-level experience)
Work Environment
- Infrastructure: Work with IBM z15 systems, multiple LPARs, and enterprise-class storage systems
