Quantity Surveyor

Summary: The role of Quantity Surveyor within the Public Sector involves overseeing post-inspection checks of completed works for a local authority's housing maintenance and refurbishment projects. The position requires managing compliance with standards and ensuring accurate financial reporting and cost control. The ideal candidate will have experience in contract management and a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying. This is a full-time, temporary position based in the East Midlands.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the coordination and management of cost control and procedures for housing stock repairs and investment works.
• Producing and maintaining accurate financial information in compliance with the Council’s standing orders.
• Ensuring cost control measures and adherence to budgets for external and internal contracts.
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, stakeholders, and customers.
• Assisting in contract procurement and providing support during disputes.

Key Skills:

• A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent at HNC level or above.
• Previous experience supporting a contract management team in housing refurbishment, maintenance, or the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of budget management, financial reporting, and contractor valuation.
• Experience in commercially managing planned and responsive maintenance contracts.
• Knowledge of procurement, contract negotiation, and OJEU processes.
