Summary: The Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the commodity quality plan, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and delivering Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables. This role involves maintaining documentation, training associates, and providing input into new feature development while ensuring compliance with client standards throughout the design process. The engineer will also resolve quality issues using structured problem-solving techniques and coordinate with cross-functional teams. Proven experience in quality project management and knowledge of relevant tools and methodologies is essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own commodity quality plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS) and/or iCreate.
  • Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables.
  • Closure of 8D report to required timings.
  • Ensure process adherence at all times.
  • Ensure quality data and reports are completed to the required timings.
  • Ensure associates are aware of the required Quality Standards.
  • Ensure associates are adequately trained to perform their duties.
  • Ensure all appropriate client’s standards are met throughout design maturation.
  • Provide input into new feature development.
  • Ensure all program design solutions meet Crafted Quality and World Class Product Audit (WCPA) requirements.
  • Keep all project/programme documentation up to date including Meeting minutes, Foundation and Programme Design analysis documents, Quality history and bill of design, Regulatory requirements & company standards.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience managing quality projects and applying structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Proven Experience in doors PQ, Fit and Finish (Gap & Flush) related issue resolution.
  • Good knowledge of Power door systems.
  • Hands-on experience on using the visualisation tools for perceived quality.
  • Core Tools (APQP: PPAP: FMEA: Control Plan).
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in using 8D methodology.
  • Experience in delivering of Crafted Quality process for several vehicle zones in line with programme timing.
  • Proven experience in resolving Crafted Quality issues by applying structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience in constantly reviewing and confirming body part geometry for alignment with Gap & Flush targets/plan.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders (Design, Engineering, Surfacing, Manufacturing, Tolerance Analysis, Dimension System Integration).
  • Experience in working with Dimensional System team for Locator Strategies and GD&T studies in support of the delivery of the Crafted Quality process.
  • Experience in working with commodity owners to develop understanding of assembly processes, optimum location strategies for delivering world class Crafted Quality.
