Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-house legal support to the Council in relation to general litigation (including anti-social behaviour related litigation) with a focus on local authority regulatory work, prosecutions and licensing.
- Manage a varied caseload of prosecution matters, from initial instruction through to advocacy at Court.
- Assist in the development of staff within Legal Services and other Council services through training, support and advice.
- Contribute to the delivery of Legal Services and the Council's objectives, policies and procedures.
Key Skills:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or (Fellow) CILEx with a current Practising Certificate.
- Experience of advising on a variety of local government matters in particular prosecutions and licensing matters.
- Advocacy experience before courts or tribunals.
- Experience of local authority legal advice work with extensive and up to date knowledge of the legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to the post.

We are working with a local authority in the Northwest region who are looking to appoint a Prosecutions Lawyer on an interim basis. You will provide accurate and robust legal advice on local authority enforcement matters and advise senior officers in developing policy and procedures related to the post.
