Summary: The Production Technician III role is focused on the safe and efficient operation and optimization of wells and pads along a designated route. The technician will monitor production metrics, ensure compliance with operational standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify production variance using tools such as Production Viewer, PI, and Cygnet.
  • Ensure all wells meet or exceed Clean Average (CA) targets.
  • Develop and execute action plans for underperforming wells.
  • Escalate issues to Lead Area Technician, Optimizer, and Production Foreman as necessary.
  • Ensure all daily operational KPIs are met.
  • Maintain compliance with inspection and maintenance schedules.
  • Verify no overdue inspections and use Power BI tools to track due inspections.
  • Ensure inspections are within KPI limits for plunger inspections.
  • Utilize COW Tool and SIMOPS for verifications and maintain a 15% verification-to-gap ratio annually.
  • Ensure accurate well coding and confirm all wells above CA are properly coded.
  • Provide operational support in other areas when your route is complete and daily metrics are achieved.

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of this role is to safely and efficiently operate and optimize wells and pads along an assigned route. You will ensure all key production and operational metrics are met while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive performance and reliability.


Key Responsibilities

Production Monitoring & Optimization

  • Identify production variance using tools such as:
    • Production Viewer
    • PI
    • Cygnet
  • Ensure all wells meet or exceed Clean Average (CA) targets
  • Develop and execute step-by-step action plans for underperforming wells
  • Escalate issues when needed in the following order:
    1. Lead Area Technician
    2. Optimizer
    3. Production Foreman

Metrics & Compliance

  • Ensure all daily operational KPIs are met
  • Maintain full compliance with inspection and maintenance schedules

Site Inspections

  • Verify no overdue inspections
  • Use Power BI (PBI) tools to track due inspections

Plunger Inspections

  • Ensure inspections are within KPI limits:
    • Less than 5,000 miles
    • Less than 12 months since last inspection
  • Use PBI tools to monitor compliance

Verifications & Data Integrity

  • Utilize:
    • COW Tool
    • SIMOPS
  • Maintain a 15% verification-to-gap ratio annually (individual target)

Coding & Reporting

  • Ensure all well coding is accurate and up to date:
    • Normal Ops – No Action: Wells performing at expected levels
    • Base Backout – No Action: Verified underperformance due to line pressure
  • Confirm all wells above CA are properly coded
  • Follow up on wells in engineering/optimization status longer than 7 days

Field Support

  • Provide operational support in other areas when:
    • Your route is complete
    • Daily metrics are achieved

Technical Knowledge Requirements

Plunger Lift Systems

  • Understand plunger lift fundamentals and operation
  • Perform inspections using proper tools and procedures:
    • Calipers
    • Plunger removal tools
    • SOPs and spare parts
  • Use tools such as:
    • Power BI (Plunger Page)
    • Cygnet
    • Enbase
  • Troubleshoot issues before escalation

Gas Lift Systems

  • Understand casing vs. tubing pressure relationships
  • Maintain proper injection rates (avoid over/under injecting)
  • Identify performance issues using:
    • Cygnet
    • Well throughput data

Well Operations Knowledge

  • Wellhead compression basics
  • Free-flowing wells:
    • Casing wells
    • Tubing wells
    • OTAP wells

Digital Tools Proficiency

Candidates must be proficient with:

  • Cygnet

Equipment Experience (Facility Dependent)
