Principal Java/ Kotlin Engineer

Summary: The role of Principal Java/Kotlin Engineer involves working on a contract basis outside IR35, focusing on solving complex technical challenges within a small, high-impact team. The engineer will design and build data-intensive systems and work with distributed architectures to support mission-critical platforms. The position requires strong experience in Java or Kotlin, particularly in data architectures and large-scale systems. The role is based in London, with a preference for on-site work two days a week, but flexibility is offered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build highly concurrent, data-intensive systems.
• Work on distributed architectures, optimising for low latency and high throughput.
• Leverage big data technologies like Redis, distributed caches, and modern data stores (e.g., Couchbase, Cassandra).
• Solve challenging engineering problems at scale, ensuring reliability and performance under heavy load.

Key Skills:

• Strong Kotlin or Java experience (Kotlin preferred).
• Background in data architectures and large-scale systems.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle a plus, but not essential).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable data architectures.
• Experience in banking/finance preferred but not essential; must have experience in enterprise environments with good tenures on critical projects.

Salary (Rate): £90.00
