Department/Project Description

To lead the data architectural elements and resources on how we collect, structure, and use our data across
the organisation.
The Data Architect will conceive and design the data structures and integrations that enable us to rapidly,
efficiently and effectively deliver on our objectives. You will furthermore continuously improve the data
strategy, architectural principles, methodologies and frameworks that we adopt.
Finally, you will define and own the solution architecture documents that explains in detail the how, what and
when for data across our data estate, including in our data lake/platform and operational data systems.

Job Responsibilities

Data architectural accountability: For how we collect, structure and use our data across the
organisation.
- Data architecture approach and principles: To design how we deliver on our needs for data (as
measured by quality, richness, trust, accessibility) whilst retaining agility/adaptability across the estate.
- End-to-end data architecture: Across our data estate, including operational systems (eg SAP or
Pega) and data lake.
- Data Modelling: Ensure that Datamodelling (conceptual, logical, physical) is to a high standard across
the organisation. Define and own the enterprise-wide Datamodelling standards and ensure they are
effectively implemented and adhered to and alignment of business area data models.
- Data Engineering: Ensure that architectural and modelling standards and designs are understood by
the engineering teams. Equip and support these teams so to help ensure that the designs are adopted/
complied with.
- Business Analysis: Determine structural requirements by analysing our operations, strategic priorities,
and in-flight programmes; reviewing objectives with stakeholders; and evaluating current systems.
- Artefacts/Deliverables: Document and govern the data architectural artefacts/deliverables, eg,
blueprints, principles, procedures and standards via the appropriate forums.
- Governance, regulation and risk: Ensure that our data architecture and design is compliant with
policies as set out for data privacy, protection and assurance, for information security, and for our
broader governance, regulatory and risk policies and framework.
