Summary: The Pipefitter role in Glasgow involves fabricating and installing piping systems for various projects in the defence sector. Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricating and installing pipework systems in large and small-bore pipework using different materials (copper, cuni, carbon steel and stainless steel).
  • Using a range of hand tools & mechanical equipment to cut, bend and weld pipes as well as installation of pipework.
  • Installing utilities aboard ship i.e. sinks, showers, and toilets.
  • Install and assemble fittings, valves, and related components according to drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with other trades to ensure the timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and company procedures at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of work carried out.

Key Skills:

  • Modern Apprenticeship certificate/Trade Papers and relevant qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Current knowledge and experience of pipe manufacture, installation, and use of associated equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques, tools, and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Clear understanding of SHE, COSHH and Risk Assessments.
  • Proven experience as a Pipefitter or similar within an industrial or commercial environment.
  • Marine Pipefitting Experience (desirable).
  • Experience in industrial or commercial settings preferred.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in TIG Pipe Welding.
