Summary: The PGD Engineer for Solar Power Generation will focus on enhancing inverter performance and optimizing processes within utility-scale solar operations. This role involves independent decision-making on engineering issues and requires collaboration with various teams to improve fault analysis and troubleshooting. The engineer will also develop documentation and manage technical initiatives to support solar fleet reliability. The position is based in Juno Beach, FL, and is offered as a 12-month contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine troubleshooting guides for top inverter fault codes across multiple technologies
  • Build and maintain a central fault code database and Do Not Reset (DNR) lists
  • Leverage AI tools and engineering datasets to generate structured troubleshooting documentation
  • Act as primary technical liaison between Solar Inverter Fleet Engineering, ROCC, and CWE teams
  • Independently manage technical process improvement initiatives with broad scope objectives
  • Interface with internal teams and OEMs, providing technical direction on inverter-related issues
  • Analyse component failure rates and support development of corrective work plans
  • Develop subject matter expertise in at least one inverter OEM technology
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for inverter and solar field equipment failures
  • Support field technicians and control centre operators in troubleshooting inverter issues
  • Develop engineering countermeasures for recurring system failures
  • Support regulatory reporting and data requests as required
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and OEM partners
  • Support continuous improvement of solar fleet performance and reliability
  • Provide technical insight into inverter system behaviour and failure trends

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related engineering discipline with equivalent electrical systems experience)
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • Utility-scale inverter or power electronics experience
  • Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration ability
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (desired)
  • 2+ years of direct solar inverter experience (desired)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification (desired)
  • Experience in operations support or control room environments (desired)

The PGD Engineer will apply advanced engineering principles to support solar power generation operations, with a strong focus on inverter performance, fault analysis, and process optimisation across utility-scale solar assets.

This role requires independent decision-making on engineering issues, with oversight limited to high-level objectives and critical escalations.

Primary Responsibilities – CWE / ROCC Process Improvements:
