Summary: The Network & Telephony Architect role is a 12-month fixed-term contract focused on supporting digital transformation initiatives through technical leadership and hands-on delivery in network infrastructure and telephony systems. The position involves designing, implementing, and improving enterprise solutions while mentoring junior team members. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure secure and resilient systems. The position is based in Shrewsbury, with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise network and telephony solutions
  • Lead technology upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects
  • Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers
  • Deliver network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless
  • Configure and manage: Firewalls and network security
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • VoIP systems (physical and softphone)
  • Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and resilient
  • Manage multiple projects from planning through to delivery
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks
  • Produce clear documentation and architecture designs

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in network architecture and telephony systems
  • Experience delivering enterprise-level infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of network security and firewalls
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills
  • Experience in several of the following technologies: Aruba Networking (switching & wireless), Aruba ClearPass (NAC), FreeRADIUS, Cisco and Fortigate Firewalls, Mitel VoIP systems, Netcall
