Summary: The Network & Telephony Architect role is a 12-month fixed-term contract focused on supporting digital transformation initiatives through technical leadership and hands-on delivery in network infrastructure and telephony systems. The position involves designing, implementing, and improving enterprise solutions while mentoring junior team members. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure secure and resilient systems. The position is based in Shrewsbury, with a hybrid working arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise network and telephony solutions
- Lead technology upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects
- Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers
- Deliver network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless
- Configure and manage: Firewalls and network security
- Network Access Control (NAC)
- VoIP systems (physical and softphone)
- Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and resilient
- Manage multiple projects from planning through to delivery
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks
- Produce clear documentation and architecture designs
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in network architecture and telephony systems
- Experience delivering enterprise-level infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of network security and firewalls
- Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- Experience in several of the following technologies: Aruba Networking (switching & wireless), Aruba ClearPass (NAC), FreeRADIUS, Cisco and Fortigate Firewalls, Mitel VoIP systems, Netcall
