Summary: The Network Engineer role involves deploying an SD-WAN solution and upgrading LAN hardware/software across multiple sites in Scotland. The position requires extensive experience with Cisco technologies and the ability to work proactively within a change program. The engineer will also consult on network design and governance while ensuring compliance with policies. Travel across Scotland, including weekends and nights, is necessary for project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deploy SD-WAN solution to 50+ sites and upgrade LAN hardware/software.
- Consult on managing a large multi-site network including SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, and LAN projects.
- Provide timely advice on networking/infrastructure design and ensure adherence to design principles.
- Represent the Networks team at internal and external meetings related to the change program.
- Ensure design compliance within PSN networks and advise on best practices.
- Consult with operational colleagues to identify service improvement opportunities.
- Attend meetings and network events to share best practices.
- Consult with others to continuously improve service provision based on the network roadmap.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience with Cisco equipment (2960X/XR, 4500, 9000 series, Nexus switches).
- Knowledge of troubleshooting physical network site infrastructure.
- Experience in building and maintaining high availability networks with Cisco devices.
- Working knowledge of Cisco Networking, Unified Communications, WLC, F5 VPN, and Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Experience with network monitoring solutions and designing load balancing services.
- Ability to collaborate with IT and operational colleagues.
