Summary: The Network Engineer role is a 12-month fixed-term contract focused on maintaining and enhancing the organization's LAN/WAN infrastructure. The position requires expertise in network design, implementation, and management, particularly with Cisco technologies. The engineer will also support network improvement projects and ensure compliance with security standards. This role is integral to the IT Infrastructure team, reporting to the Infrastructure Platforms Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage complex network infrastructure using Cisco Campus Networking 9300 series and Cisco Nexus Switches.
- Configure, deploy, and maintain Palo Alto Prisma Access Firewall policies to protect business-critical applications and data.
- Administer and optimise FortiGate Firewalls to strengthen security and threat management.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to ensure seamless operations.
- Develop, document, and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to assess and mitigate risks and vulnerabilities.
- Provide advanced technical support and manage escalations with third-party providers.
- Stay up to date with emerging network technologies to drive infrastructure improvement.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and security standards.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of Layer 2/3 networking, including BGP, OSPF, and network troubleshooting.
- Proven experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Switches.
- Working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls, Prisma Access, and SD-WAN technologies (highly desirable).
- Relevant Cisco and Azure certifications.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar network engineering role.
- Ability to produce high- and low-level design documentation (HLD/LLD).
- ITIL certification preferred.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Azure cloud stack.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
- Deep understanding of RADIUS, TACACS+, and 802.1X protocols.
- Expertise in wireless networking, including Cisco WLAN configurations and security best practices.
- Experience managing Wireless LAN Controllers and enterprise Wi-Fi networks.
- Experience with Fortinet products (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager).
- Fortinet NSE 4/5 or higher certifications advantageous.
