Manufacturing Research Development EngineerMidlandsInside IR3512 month contract (good chance it will be extended)Pay up to 300 per dayKey Skills: Genuinely interested in the research and development of new engineering technology, methods and processes.This role centres on conducting research within Bodyshop (BIW) Manufacturing Engineering, focusing on multiple projects aimed at advancing technology from 'Concept Ready' to 'Implementation Ready'. These developments are then integrated into mainstream Engineering operations. The teams function emphasizes key pillars including Joining, Fixtures, Process Quality, Product Driven Solutions, Process Optimization, and Parts Transfer. Research initiatives encompass diverse areas such as new materials, vehicle lightweighting, process enhancements, digitization, complexity reduction, exploitation of advanced vehicle features, agnostic joining methods, energy efficiency, and additive manufacturing. Collaboration with internal and external partners is integral to this role.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssential:Relevant degree or equivalent experience required.Knowledge of development processes, equipment, and joining technologies in BIW.Strong technical expertise and experience in Body in White technologies.Ability to resolve technical issues within a team.Strong report-writing and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.Interest in improving production equipment, applications, and introducing new technologies.Desirable:Previous role in engineering or automotive environments.Familiarity with agile working practices and Jira software.Knowledge of other engineering fields such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics.Experience in creating PFMEAs.If you are interested please apply or send your CV to luke.sandilands@cpl.com
