Summary: The Interim M&E Building Surveyor role is a part-time, fixed-term position focused on conducting mechanical and electrical condition surveys across a large university estate. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical and electrical condition surveys across a diverse estate of 180 buildings, ranging from small ancillary structures (eg, bin stores) to complex laboratory facilities.
  • Deliver a phased survey programme:
    • Year 1: 20 buildings
    • Year 2: 80 buildings
    • Year 3: 80 buildings
  • Assess and document the condition of M&E systems, identifying maintenance needs and repair priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Estates team to determine and report on current and projected spend on maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all surveys are carried out in line with health and safety regulations and university standards.
  • Provide clear, actionable reports to inform strategic estate planning and budgeting.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in M&E building surveying, ideally within large or complex estates.
  • Strong understanding of building services systems and maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a phased workload over a multi-year programme.
