Summary: An experienced Interim Financial Controller is sought to support a well-established real estate organization in London during the temporary absence of the Finance Director. The role involves collaboration with a recently promoted Financial Controller and a finance team, focusing on ensuring smooth financial operations. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the property or real estate sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Support:
    • Review of month-end schedules and reports
    • Management accounts, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Asset Transition Support:
    • Assist with onboarding two development assets transitioning to investment assets
    • Help set up reporting, onboard a new outsourced management accountant, and provide training
    • Replicate existing processes and controls across new assets
  • Compliance Reporting:
    • Support in reviewing VAT, CIS returns, and financial statements
    • Review facility agreements to ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Operational Support:
    • Support site teams (each site operates as an independent business)
    • Assist with:
      • Tenant billing issues and refunds
      • Utility and void cost management
      • New contract tender evaluations
      • Financial review of potential new providers

Key Skills:

  • Experience as a Financial Controller or similar role
  • Background in property or real estate sector
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of VAT, CIS returns, and compliance reporting
  • Ability to manage and train finance teams
  • Excellent communication and operational support skills

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Financial Controller to provide essential support within a well-established real estate organisation based in London. This role will work collaboratively with a recently promoted Financial Controller and a dedicated finance team, ensuring seamless financial operations while the Finance Director is temporarily unavailable. The candidate will ideally have worked in a property/real estate company previously.

Team Structure:

  • A recently promoted FC who has been with the business for two years
  • A finance team based in India: three Management Accountants and one AP professional

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month-End Support:
    • Review of month-end schedules and reports
    • Management accounts, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Asset Transition Support:
    • Assist with onboarding two development assets transitioning to investment assets
    • Help set up reporting, onboard a new outsourced management accountant, and provide training
    • Replicate existing processes and controls across new assets
  • Compliance Reporting:
    • Support in reviewing VAT, CIS returns, and financial statements
    • Review facility agreements to ensure compliance requirements are met
