Summary: The Manager, Interconnection Services will oversee the generator interconnection process throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance and efficiency. This role involves evaluating interconnection standards, managing agreements, and optimizing processes to support new generating asset growth. The position requires a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and technical analysis in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power systems and interconnection methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the generator interconnection application process end-to-end, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to project timelines
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders: including ISO/RTOs, developers, and utility companies — to facilitate seamless interconnections
  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize the generator interconnection process
  • Monitoring industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic planning and decision-making
  • Participating in negotiations with Transmission Providers to reach reasonable resolutions and identify low-cost network upgrade solutions
  • Conduct prospecting interconnection analysis using PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN; configure and automate injection study systems
  • Perform injection studies to identify optimal generator resource placement across the region
  • Maintain proficiency in Transmission Providers' tariff, business practices, interconnection standards, study practices, cost allocation methodologies, transmission planning standards, and system performance evaluation criteria
  • Perform network upgrade cost estimates for proposed projects
  • Verify and challenge System Impact and Facility Study results
  • Conduct Day One analyses to minimize curtailment by optimizing network upgrade construction scheduling, resolving transmission issues, and supporting Limited Operation Interconnection Service studies
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Key Skills:

  • Expert-level proficiency in steady-state thermal/voltage, short-circuit, and transient stability analysis using industry tools such as PowerGEM, TARA, PSS/E, and ASPEN, including programming and automation
  • Strong power systems background with thorough understanding of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards
  • Deep understanding of planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and Transmission Providers, with a focus on baseline reliability planning and generator interconnection studies
  • Familiarity with transmission policy and regulatory issues related to generator interconnection
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive technical analysis
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to external stakeholders and all levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability to provide solutions for technical transmission issues across development projects and existing assets

Location: Juno Beach, FL (Headquarters preferred; hybrid or remote considered for the right candidate) Duration: 12-Month Contract Pay Range:$44.50–$49.50/hr


Summary

The Manager, Interconnection Services will participate in the regional generator interconnection process across the full project lifecycle - from development through construction - supporting the successful execution of new generating asset growth. This role partners closely with internal project developers and external entities including Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs), Transmission Providers (TPs), and Transmission Owners (TOs) to evaluate interconnection standards and study practices, assess transmission siting feasibility, review system impact studies, and manage Large Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIAs).


Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and support a variety of projects within the Interconnection Services department. Key responsibilities include:

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of industry experience

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience and established working relationships with California ISO and other utilities in the Western United States (CA, AZ, NV, NM, UT, OR, WA, ID, WY, MT, and CO) in roles related to generator or load interconnection agreements, ISO/utility interconnection study methodology, business practices, and transmission planning with a focus on grid reliability
