Summary: The Inspection Advisor III role is focused on leading quality assurance efforts in the New Mexico area, specifically within the oil and gas sector. The position involves managing a team of QA inspectors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering relationships with various stakeholders. The role requires extensive experience in quality management and inspection processes, along with a commitment to safety and process improvement. Key Responsibilities:
- Promote safety within the area of specialty
- Lead and coordinate a team of third-party Quality Assurance (QA) inspectors
- Manage conflicts within the QA team to maintain a collaborative and supportive environment
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with supervisors and managers in New Mexico
- Ensure construction and fabrication activities meet relevant specifications
- Provide senior-level expertise in welding, coating, civil works, piping, pressure vessels and tank fabrication, equipment installations, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Advise supervisors on quality matters across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction
- Roll out quality initiatives and improvements across Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC)
- Assist in developing and improving QA processes and procedures
- Mentor and train contractors and suppliers to enhance quality control practices
- Manage quality interfaces among suppliers, contractors, QA teams, reliability teams, and project disciplines
- Review contractor and supplier quality documentation for accuracy and adequacy
- Participate in Mechanical Completion walkdowns, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and final inspection release activities
- Support closure of punch list items
- Keep Quality Supervision informed of significant issues and status updates
- Maintain QA records, reports, and data
- Provide early warning of potential quality issues and recommend solutions
- Control and manage QA-related costs
Key Skills:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in Quality and/or Inspection within a major oil & gas company or EPC
- Strong ability to handle high-stress situations with professionalism
- Advanced knowledge of industry codes and standards: ASME, NACE, API, AWS, ACI
- Willingness to travel to field and shop locations for troubleshooting
- ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or willingness to obtain within 12 months
- Associate degree or higher in Engineering or Science
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification
- Experience managing supplier quality surveillance programs
- Certifications in NDT techniques (RT, UT, PT, MT)
- Experience delivering quality-related training
